A new update for DOOM is available for players to download. The 5th free update includes several changes. These include a new game mode, some changes to SnapMap, and bots for multiplayer. However, the patch is not small. In total, you need to download 11GB to test the new features. Additionally, the Denuvo copy protection has been removed, which was not mentioned in the patch notes. What does this mean for players?
DOOM: Denuvo Removed
While some changes were described in the official patch notes that the 5th update of DOOM brings to the game, nothing was said about the removal of Denuvo. Players discovered by browsing the code that the developers have removed the copy protection software from the game.
The reactions of players to the removal of Denuvo are positive: One can finally mod the game. So far, the software has prevented players from using certain mods. Games with Denuvo are tied to an authentication server. If these servers are offline, the game cannot be played.
