In the shooter Doom, data miners have found hints that the classic has a lot in store.
Officially, there isn’t much about Doom yet. Players have now gotten their hands on an Alpha that ran in December. It was probably a small test, players only had access to a multiplayer map, but the files contained a lot that passionate tinkerers have now uncovered. However, this should be taken with caution: It is not certain that this will make it into the game.
The data miners found plenty of “old acquaintances” in the data such as The Spider Mastermind, Arch Vile, Zombies, Lost Souls, Hell Knights, Barons of Hell, Pinky Demons/Spectres, Revenants, Cyberdemons, Cacodemons, and Mancubi.
While the enemies have indeed been changed, the Spider Mastermind is said to now have various laser attacks, crawling mines, and a form of telekinesis. There are also hints of new monsters.
The probably most interesting thing: The data contains hints that bosses can spawn at different locations. Until now, it was assumed that the campaign would be static. But the find indicates that the campaign has random elements and can adapt to the player’s performance.
There are also various leaks from the Doom Alpha showing different weapons:
