The minimum and recommended system requirements for Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC are here. Even older processors can handle it, but you need a lot of storage space.
What are the minimum requirements? As a minimum, Rockstar Games requires an i5-2500k processor for the PC version of RDR 2. An older graphics card like the GTX 770 is sufficient to play the game.
Notably, the game consumes a large amount of storage space. On PC, 150 GB is required on the hard drive. That’s about a third more than on consoles.
| Operating System | Windows 7 – Service Pack 1 |
| Processor | Intel Core i5-2500k / AMD FX-6300 |
| RAM | 8 GB |
| Graphics Card | Nvidia GeForce GTX 770 2 GB / AMD Radeon R9 280 3 GB |
| Storage | 150 GB |
| Sound Card | DirectX compatible |
These are the recommended system requirements for RDR 2: While the minimum requirements are very low, Rockstar recommends somewhat stronger hardware to ensure RDR 2 runs well on PC. Here the requirements are tightened a bit.
| Operating System | Windows 10 – April 2018 Update |
| Processor | Intel Core i7-4770k / AMD Ryzen 5 1500X |
| RAM | 12 GB |
| Graphics Card | Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 6 GB / AMD Radeon RX 480 4GB |
| Storage | 150 GB |
| Sound Card | DirectX compatible |
Even with the recommended hardware, Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC is not demanding. About 35% of participants in the Steam Hardware Survey (via PCGamesN) should meet these requirements. This means many potential players are addressed who do not have to be deterred by overly high requirements.
We are already curious how RDR 2 will visually stand out on PC compared to the PS4 and Xbox versions.
When will Red Dead Redemption 2 be released on PC? You don’t have to wait long for the release. It starts in November.
If you want, you can now start the Rockstar Games Launcher and pre-order your version. This initially runs exclusively on the Rockstar Games platform. Only later can you pre-order it at other locations.
So if you’re still looking for a game for the cold winter days, then purchasing could be worth it. Is your PC fit enough for RDR 2?
