This is how you play target races: In this race, you need a swift horse and good aiming. From the back of the horse, you should shoot at targets at checkpoints. Only this way can you progress in the race. Every time you hit a target, your horse’s stamina regenerates.
You can also regenerate stamina when you ride in the slipstream of the player ahead of you.
What weapons are available? Every player starts with a bow and arrow. However, during the race, you can pick up additional weapons, which have limited ammunition. With the weapons, it is easier to hit target points or eliminate competitors.
Is there aim assist in target races? Partially yes. The aim assist is only active when you shoot at checkpoints. When shooting at opponents, you have to aim yourself.
Recently, a new game mode called Spoils of War was released for Red Dead Online.
Early access for PS4 players: If you play Red Dead Online on PS4, you will receive early access to the “open” target races. These are matches where you can shoot targets in an open area. There is no set order.

These bonuses are available now: In Red Dead Online, you now earn 20% more XP on all activities. These include target races, free roam missions, hunting wildlife, or crafting supplies.
