When does the spotlight hour start? The spotlight hour starts on January 13th at 6:00 PM. For 60 minutes, the Pokémon of the day will appear, before the normal spawns of the event High Zaptitude return at 7:00 PM.
Which Pokémon will appear? Voltilamm is in the spotlight. This Electric-type Pokémon is a classic that can evolve into Waaty and Ampharos. Ampharos also has a Mega Evolution that is even stronger.
What bonus is active? Every evolution gives you double the amount of XP.
Is there a Shiny Voltilamm? Yes, you can also secure the Shiny. However, the chance is not increased, so you’ll need some luck.
Voltilamm in the Spotlight Hour of Pokémon GO
Is it worth catching? Generally, Voltilamm with its evolutions is not overly useful in battles. Neither in PvP nor in raids, Voltilamm, Waaty, and Ampharos are among the best Pokémon in the game.
One exception is Mega-Ampharos, which is among the best Electric attackers. So if you catch a good specimen of Voltilamm during the spotlight hour, it might be worth leveling it up and eventually pulling off the Mega Evolution when you have the necessary energies.
Is the bonus worth it? The evolution bonus is not bad if you still need XP on your way to level 80. It’s best to prepare before the hour and figure out which Pokémon you want to evolve to save time.
