With the more detailed reveal of Cyberpunk 2077 at E3 2018, CD Projekt Red stole the show from many other games. However, even though the first trailer created a stir and the reviews from journalists on site created a positive mood, there were some doubts among the console owners of PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Will Cyberpunk 2077 still be released for the current generation? Or are the developers already aiming for a release on the next generation of consoles?
CD Projekt Red made it clear: Cyberpunk 2077 will still be released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
Cyberpunk 2077 is set to come for PS4, Xbox One, and PC
Focus on PS4 and Xbox One: Quest designer Patrick Mills explained in an interview with Game Informer that he had already “heard from several people” that CD Projekt Red was allegedly targeting the next generation of consoles. However, this is not true, as “we are targeting the current console generation. We want to release on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and of course also on PC.”
Cyberpunk 2077 – Release date 2020?
Launch across multiple generations? Fans are already speculating that Cyberpunk 2077 will likely be released towards the end of the current console generation and at the start of the next one. This is estimated to be around 2020. Then the game could possibly also come to the newer consoles with a slight delay and maybe an “optimized” version.
However, there is still no concrete release date for Cyberpunk 2077. The developers do not want to commit and continue their “It will be done when it’s done” mentality.
