The gunsmith of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is a monster. There are, without exaggeration, nearly endless customization options. But the system crashed shortly after release and the developers had to disable an important feature.
What’s going on? Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 had a successful release – at peak, 250,000 people played the new CoD shooter on Steam. But there were also some serious issues.
Game crashes, lags, wobbly servers – it didn’t go optimally for many players, even though they mostly managed to play their matches. There was already an update to reduce game crashes – regarding issues related to player parties.
To further reduce the likelihood of crashes, an important feature has now been disabled, with which you were supposed to build the best weapons in the game: the attachment tuning.
CoD MW2: Attachment tuning disabled – led to crashes
When will the gun tuning return? So far, there is no information on that.
Tweet translation: We have temporarily disabled attachment tuning to investigate game crashes for users who have played with 5 tuned attachments. If you currently have tuned attachments equipped, you need to remove them and equip them [without tuning] again.
How powerful is the gunsmith? With attachment tuning, the gunsmith is more powerful than ever in Call of Duty.
Once you have leveled a weapon to max level, the attachment tuning activates. Almost every attachment can be customized individually.
With tuning, the focus of the attachment can be shifted – if you want the advantages to be more effective, you adjust the sliders and customize the attachment to your liking.
However, more advantages also mean that the disadvantages will have a stronger effect – the penalty on sensitivity speed also increases.
The best weapons in CoD MW2 can only be created with this feature. You can still build very powerful weapons just by using the attachments – but the last bit of tuning will be unavailable for now.
