In MMORPGs, you usually encounter dozens of other players. However, that doesn’t mean MMORPG fans are automatically fans of groups. We at MeinMMO want to know: Do you prefer to play solo in games or do you game with others?
Meeting other players, embarking on adventures together to face new challenges, and exchanging ideas in guilds or clans is the core concept of MMORPGs. After all, they were specifically created for the multiplayer aspect.
However, in recent years, there has been a significant shift. Modern MMORPGs are increasingly focused on providing content for solo players.
- In ESO, for example, you can play the entire story without ever interacting with another person. Questing and leveling in the world also go smoothly.
- In Guild Wars 2, the story and the world also function without contact with others. While you do encounter other players during large world bosses and world events, you are not necessarily required to interact with them.
- In WoW, SWTOR, or New World, numerous content is offered that does not require contact with others.
This also makes sense, as many people want to unwind while gaming and not have to manage other players or deal with their problems, as is often the case with guild leaders.
Nonetheless, dungeons, raids, world bosses, and PvP remain the special content of MMORPGs. They form the core of all these games and emphasize that you interact with other players.
But tell us: How about you? Do you play MMOs specifically for the group aspect or do you prefer to go solo? Do you play with friends in a group or often with strangers?
Please also feel free to comment on where you particularly enjoy being with other players, which content you prefer to experience alone, and what you think of the trend in MMORPGs regarding solo and group play.
