Although we all play MMOs and multiplayer games, not all of us are automatically group players. Do you prefer going solo or playing with others in games?
What is this all about? Playing with other people is, if not the core concept of MMOs. We log in and know that there are real people behind the characters on the screen, not AI.
Since the birth of online gaming, players have formed guilds and clans to venture into the virtual worlds, defeat enemies, and experience adventures together.
But hardly any of us will be online constantly in a group of people or exclusively solo.
Sometimes you want your peace, sometimes you just don’t feel like making a big party and just grind a little bit by yourself. And sometimes even a loner doesn’t mind some company.
What does your mix look like? What do you tend to prefer?
Which MMOs give you the choice between solo and group? While players in MMOs were often forced into groups before, many modern games give you the choice of whether you want to play with others or go solo.
Especially in shooter MMOs like Destiny or Fortnite, players have the freedom to choose whether they want to play a few rounds alone or team up with friends thanks to automatic matching.

The prime example among MMORPGs is The Elder Scrolls Online, which ranks #1 in our list of the top solo MMORPGs. With the “One Tamriel” update, level restrictions within the game were removed, allowing players to move freely without fearing being overwhelmed by monsters alone.
But tell us: How about you? Do you play MMOs specifically for the group aspect or do you prefer going solo? Do you play with friends in a group or often with strangers?
