Fallout 76 is a multiplayer game where you can also communicate with other players. To bring a little more life to your conversations, emotes will also be available – as a few seconds from the gameplay video show.
Show Your Feelings with an Emote Wheel: In Fallout 76, you can communicate with other survivors from Vault 76. To express your feelings during conversations, you can enhance discussions with emotes.
In Fallout 76, you have access to a wheel of gestures (cover image). The wheel is only visible for a brief moment in the gameplay trailer of Fallout 76 shown at E3. Besides classic emotes like “thumbs up” and “thumbs down,” the typical poses of Vault Boy, there seem to be some more specialized poses as well.
Emote Wheels – Already Known from Other Games: The ability for players to select their gestures through a ring menu is also found in other games. In the battle royale giants PUBG and Fortnite, the emote selection also works through a wheel.
A bit closer to the survival aspect of Fallout 76 is Conan Exiles, which also features a ring menu for gestures. In Conan Exiles, new gestures can also be learned when the templates have been found in the world. Whether Fallout 76 will also take inspiration from this remains to be seen.
Gestures are Important for Communication: Unlike in games like PUBG and Fortnite, gestures can be really important in a survival game. In Conan Exiles, there is an emote with which the character surrenders and then also does not draw weapons anymore. A kind of plea for mercy.
A similar gesture with raised hands can also be seen in the video of Fallout 76. It is still not clear if there will be a voice chat in the game. The option to surrender may, therefore, save your life.
