What are the problems with the console versions? CoD Vanguard offers numerous versions for purchase. Standard or Ultimate, digital or disc version? The choice is diverse. If you buy the ‘wrong’ version, you may be stuck with a version whose graphics are outdated or may not be able to play the game on your console at all.
It actually matters whether you have a version for the last or next generation of consoles.
What should you consider when buying Vanguard?
What about the Xbox? The worst pitfalls exist for the versions for Microsoft’s Xboxes. If you buy the standard disc version here, you will be ‘enjoying’ the graphics of the old Xbox One for all time. There is no chance for an upgrade to the new Xbox Series S or X. The digital standard edition, however, can be upgraded to next-gen.
If you buy the disc version from Xbox Series X|S for 10 euros more, you can play Vanguard on both consoles: Xbox One and Xbox Series. Always pay attention to the prints on the packaging.
If you want to be on the safe side, get the digital versions. They cannot be resold, but you can still purchase an upgrade if you have the wrong version.
What should be considered for PlayStation? With PlayStation 4, it doesn’t matter whether you have the digital or disc version. Both are upgradable to the next-gen version of the PS5.
But here applies: The other way around does not work. So if you buy the PS5 disc version of Vanguard, but don’t own one of the rare premium consoles, you won’t be able to get the game running on PS4.
What about the PC? On PC, it doesn’t matter what you buy, the graphics depend solely on your hardware.
