The island expeditions in World of Warcraft are fun, but many players find them not worthwhile. There are several reasons for this.
In World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth, one of the main features is the island expeditions. However, for many players, they are just a pretty accessory, because aside from a little artifact power, they don’t offer much. The other rewards are too rare. So rare that many WoW fans are not even aware that they can actually get something.
What rewards are there? Besides the Azerite as artifact power and the seafarer’s doubloons, there are numerous other rewards that can be obtained at the end of an island expedition. Whether one receives them is, however, random. The rewards include:
- 5 new mounts
- 22 different pets
- 8 toys
- Over 50 different weapon models
- Several quest items for reputation and artifact power
Drop rate extremely low: However, players are very frustrated. There are repeatedly reports of players who have completed “more than 40 expeditions” and have not received a single special reward.
Blizzard had at least hinted through Jeremy “Muffinus” Feasel that the drop chance in the island expeditions has been increased. However, players have not been able to confirm this yet and remain dissatisfied.
Some fans wish for a “Bad Luck Protection” like it was the case for the Legendaries in Legion. So that, for example, after a certain number of expeditions, one has a higher chance of getting something special.
Cortyn says: Although I have fun with the island expeditions and funny situations keep occurring, the low drop rate is slowly becoming frustrating. I have now surely completed 30 expeditions and received only one single quest item that gave me 500 artifact power – a very modest yield.
