The Elder Scrolls Online will soon receive the new DLC Scalebreaker for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. This not only continues the story about the dragons but also brings much-anticipated comfort features. The DLC along with Update 23 finally has a release date since QuakeCon.
When will Scalebreaker be released? At QuakeCon 2019, ESO was also a major topic. Among other things, the release date of Scalebreaker, the 3rd DLC for 2019, was mentioned. Until now, it was only known that the DLC along with the free Update 23 would come “sometime in August”.
Now we finally know exactly when the update is coming:
- On August 12, it will finally be here. Then you can play Scalebreaker and the important Update 23 on PC.
- For PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, unfortunately, it will not be until August 27, 2019.
Cool Dungeons and Important Comfort Features in Update 23
What’s included in the DLC Scalebreaker: Scalebreaker picks up the story from Elsweyr and the Season of the Dragons. It primarily deals with the aftermath of the events from Elsweyr:
- In the Moongrave temple city, vampires are in the process of draining a downed dragon. This would create super-vampires with dragon blood, and no one wants a kind of vampire Dovahkiin. Therefore, you should take out the bloodsuckers before the dragon blood bank opens.
- In the lair of Maarselok, the dragon of the same name is hatching dark plans to corrupt the nearby woods of the Bosmer. Here, you will battle against the dragon and his minions, and this dungeon was very well received by fans on the test server due to its cool boss mechanics.
Additionally, there will be a new questline, in which it will finally become clear what the familiar Sai Sahan from the last trailer in Elsweyr is doing there and how things will progress with the dragons.
Why Update 23 is so important: The big highlight is, however, the free Update 23. This will also be released on August 12 and brings some features that ESO fans have longed for since the beta.
The most important new feature is multicrafting. Up until now, you had to painstakingly create each individual item in crafting. This is frustrating when you want to craft a batch of healing potions or buff food and have to click through menus forever.

With the update, you can finally craft large quantities at once. The same applies to refining and breaking down items. This feature was extremely well received on the test server.
Additionally, there is the also well-received feature of exchanging rewards from the Undaunted directly in loot boxes to better obtain your desired loot.
Only the feature regarding guild trading posts was viewed skeptically on the PTS. A long-term test on the live server will show whether it is worth something.
