Many veterans from The Division 1 will recognize the name Aaron Keener. The return of the rogue agent who made life difficult for us in Manhattan is now confirmed for The Division 2
Which direction is the story of The Division 2 heading? So far, there are hardly any clues. Developer Massive has now confirmed that an important character from The Division 1 will play a role again.
This is now known: At the Ubiday in Japan, a developer revealed that Aaron Keener, a rogue agent, will return in The Division 2. Keener was the main antagonist in The Division 1. They did not want to divulge further details as it would involve spoilers.
We would also like to caution: Anyone who has not yet played through the story of The Division 1 and wants to avoid spoilers should not read further.

Aaron Keener already played an important role in part 1
Anyone who has played through the campaign of The Division 1 will likely remember Keener. For those who do not recall who this guy actually is, we have a story special where you can learn everything about Aaron Keener. Here, however, is a brief summary.
Who is Aaron Keener? Keener is an agent of the first wave sent to New York City after the outbreak of the Dollar Flu to restore order.
That went badly wrong and ended with the agents being left behind in the Dark Zone. Keener took this as an opportunity to turn against the government and make his own decisions. The remaining agents of the first wave were either recruited by him or hunted and killed.
Keener now operated as an enemy of the Division and escaped at the end of the main campaign with important data about the virus.

What is Aaron Keener looking for in Washington D.C.?
Even before the first story video about the downfall of Washington D.C. there was speculation about whether the rogue agent would play a role in The Division 2. This is the first more concrete hint as to who the actual enemy might be.
What goals could Keener pursue? While the story can only be speculated about, his motives are known.
- Keener has turned away from the government
- and is in possession of important data about the virus that caused the apocalypse.
- He has recruited other rogue agents,
- engaged in the past with mercenary groups like the Last Man Battalion
- and deliberately caused terror.

His motivation is greed for power and influence. Apparently, he hopes to gain this in the former capital. Within the 6 regions of Washington D.C. there must be something that Keener needs.
How exactly his plans are remains to be seen, as we probably won’t know until the release of The Division 2 on March 15, 2019.
Before that, there will be several beta phases.
