The biggest streamer on Twitch, Félix “xQc” Lengyel is involved in a legal dispute with his ex-girlfriend, Adept. There is now a public war of words between the two. The conflict escalated in recent hours, culminating in Adept streaming in a xQc parody on Twitch.
What is the dispute between them?
- The streamers xQc and Adept were in a relationship for several years but tried to keep it as private as possible, which they failed to do.
- xQc was for a long time the most successful streamer on Twitch and has earned millions of US dollars in recent years. Adept was significantly less successful than him.
- Adept says: She and xQc were married for 3 years due to a special arrangement. xQc denies that. There is a legal dispute about that: Adept refers to it as an “ugly breakup.”

What is the dispute about? In Texas, there is a regulation: the “Common Law Marriage” (texas.gov):
- If a couple agrees that they are married
- and they live together as “husband and wife”
- then that counts as an “informal marriage” and is regarded the same as a “formal” marriage that is legally registered and certified.
Adept claims she was married to xQc in this way. xQc denies that.
From the perspective of xQc’s fans, Adept is merely trying to secure a significant portion of xQc’s wealth: The dispute over the expensive sports car of xQc, which is registered to Adept, serves as evidence.
The dispute had previously smoldered behind the scenes, with hints surfacing now and then, and jabs being thrown at each other. xQc is on air for several hours daily and cannot hide his often emotionally distressed state.
However, the dispute was not openly conducted between the two former lovers until yesterday.
This is how the dispute escalated: The streamer xQc had, in recent days, been involved in his own dispute with the podcaster Ethan Klein. In the context, he bragged about his expensive watch and told the podcaster in a private message: “Remember, I’m wearing your whole house on my wrist.”
Ethan Klein published this message hot on Twitter as evidence of the type of arguments xQc uses.
Adept sends messages to xQc’s “enemy” on Twitter
Adept has also sent Twitter messages to Klein, apparently to pass on details about her relationship with xQc to his “enemy”. Ethan Klein published these tweets in excerpts on Twitter, which were interpreted by xQc fans as a “breach of trust” from Adept.
Adept and xQc, who usually avoid each other, have now indirectly tweeted against each other:
- Adept wrote: “Imagine this is your everyday life for years, while you are made to believe that it is your fault that someone behaves this way.”
- xQc tweeted back: “Now imagine this is your everyday life for years, when someone makes you believe that everything you’ve lived is a lie and that it was your fault that someone only lived in a fantasy.”
This was the climax of the dispute: In a live stream, Adept appeared on September 8 as a parody of xQc, holding a wristwatch up to the camera and hurling insults.
Apparently a reference to her former boyfriend’s “Rolex diss.”
A clip of her performance has so far garnered over 200,000 views.
This is what it’s about: The strange thing is that this bizarre dispute between two twenty-somethings is about a lot of money and apparently also about personal injuries surfacing.
What really happened can probably only be revealed in court.
