Tencent plans to establish the first “eSports Town” in the world. A theme park based on major eSports titles like League of Legends. In addition to recreational events for players and fans, there will also be a university for professional players.
Is the gaming paradise coming for gamers? The online company Tencent plans to establish the first “eSports Town” in the world in China. The facility will focus entirely on eSports, its players, and fans.

The eSports Town is envisioned as a large complex for competitive gaming. The following are currently planned:
- An eSports amusement park
- An eSports university
- A culture park
- A commercial animation park
- A “Creative Block”
- A community for entrepreneurs in technical fields
- A data center with Tencent Cloud
eSports Town: Start of the video game academy?
The eSports Town will go beyond just leisure activities for gamers and eSports fans. On the agenda are hostels and a dedicated university for professional players. National eSports events are also expected to find their way to the eSports Town.
Tencent also wants to establish its center for game development in the eSports Town. The company generates most of its income from online gaming and is the owner of Riot Games, the company behind LoL.

The eSports Town is still in the planning phase. However, construction has already been approved by the Wuhu city council. Wuhu is a non-district city and belongs to the Chinese province of Anhui. The eSports Town will be built here.
eSports is extremely popular in China and a successful concept. The electronic sport is still experiencing strong growth trends here. Who knows when such an “eSports Town” will emerge in the West?
