How to install Disney Plus on PS4? We explain how to install the Disney Plus app and reveal what the competition from Netflix and Amazon has to offer.
What is Disney Plus? Disney Plus is a subscription-based streaming service from the manufacturer Disney. The service has been available in the USA since November 12, 2019, and has been accessible in Germany since March 24, 2020.
The service works similarly to Amazon or Netflix: instead of buying movies, you pay a monthly fee and can then stream as many movies as you want.
And Disney Plus is very successful: According to hollywoodreporter.com, Disney Plus had over 26 million paying subscribers in February 2020. With the European launch, these numbers are expected to rise even further.
Disney+ mainly offers its users original productions from Walt Disney Studios. In addition, productions from Lucasfilm, Marvel, National Geographic, Pixar, and 20th Century Studios are also available. By the way, Disney has compiled all the movies available at launch (at least in the USA) on YouTube:
Install Disney Plus App on PS4
- Log in with your PSN account on PlayStation 4
- Next, go to the PlayStation Store.
- Here, select “Apps” and then the “Disney+” app. If it doesn’t appear directly, it’s best to use the search function in the store.
- Once you have opened the Store page for Disney+, select “Download”; the app will then be downloaded and installed on your console.
- After installation, you can start Disney+ directly from the home screen of the PlayStation 4
- Finally, you need to enter your login details for Disney+ in the app.
It is worth mentioning that it is not possible to download movies on the PS4 and watch them offline. This is currently only possible with the app on Android.
Regular subscriptions for Disney Plus: There are two subscription variants with Disney+: you can subscribe monthly or take out an annual subscription. The normal costs here are 6.99 euros per month or 69.99 euros for 12 months.
Disney+ offers all technical standards like 4K, HDR, and Dolby Atmos, but without additional costs like with Netflix. In addition, you can use Disney+ on four devices simultaneously without paying extra for it.
