Russian fans of the MMORPG Black Desert recently went through a nightmare as they feared for their characters. But the fear has now come to an end.
Losing the character one has built over years in an MMORPG is a nightmare for many players. However, Russian Black Desert fans can now breathe a sigh of relief.
A Nightmare for Players
What happened? The developer studio Pearl Abyss parted ways with the Russian publisher “GameNet” after several years of collaboration. However, this partnership did not end amicably, which is why Pearl Abyss did not have access to the character data of Russian Black Desert players. A migration of the data was therefore impossible. Fans had to fear that their heroes and progress were irretrievably lost.
An Agreement Has Been Reached
This is the current situation: In the meantime, players can breathe a sigh of relief. Pearl Abyss and GameNet have been able to reach an agreement. All player data will be transferred to Pearl Abyss’s servers. Thus, there should be no loss. Pearl Abyss apologized to the players for causing fear.
What happens next: The data migration will begin shortly. In the meantime, Pearl Abyss is preparing the new servers for the Russian players. GameNet will soon inform players with details about the transfer.
Once the migration is complete, Russian players can continue to play Black Desert as usual. Their progress will be retained, and to celebrate the transfer, there will be events with in-game gifts.
What does this mean for the international community? Black Desert players from other countries also feared that something like this could happen to them.
