About a year ago, the MMORPG RIFT Prime servers were launched, which were very well received at the time. Now suddenly, it is all coming to an end before the servers could go through the entire “Progression” process.
Why are the servers being shut down? Gamigo does not provide an explanation for this. It is only said that the servers have to be shut down with a heavy heart.

Why was this surprising? The servers launched very successfully about a year ago. There was a real boom because players appreciated the opportunity to start fresh with subscription servers and gradually experience the story through the addons. Now it has suddenly and without warning come to an end.
Actually, the Prime servers were supposed to run for at least two years to introduce all addons step by step and complete the story.
RIFT Prime struggled with problems
What could be the reasons for the shutdown? A lot is being discussed about the situation in the official RIFT forum. Players suspect that the status of the servers, coupled with the acquisition of Trion Worlds by Gamigo, led to the fact that the subscription servers can no longer be supported.
The servers were plagued by many bugs and issues that the developers intended to address over time. Now it seems they no longer have the capacity for this. Furthermore, the population on the servers has continued to shrink over the past months.

How are the fans reacting? Reactions vary. Some show understanding as the status of the classic servers simply meant a lot of work for the developers. Others are angry and disappointed.
discosoc writes in the official forum: “If there had been a real interest, they would not have laid off everyone who was capable of working on the game.”
When will the servers be shut down? The Prime servers will be closed on March 31.
Characters can be transferred to other servers – but only if played further on a US server. It is not possible to transfer characters from one region to another, which angers many players from Europe.
