Genre: Battle Royale | Developer: Respawn Platform: PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Switch | Release Date: February 4, 2019 | Payment Model: Free2Play
What is it? Apex Legends is a battle royale shooter set in the Titanfall universe. However, you will not fight in large war machines, but participate in the Apex Games, a brutal “sport” event where various “legends” shoot each other down.
What are the highlights? The core of Apex Legends is the fast-paced gameplay and excellent gunplay, where shooter expert shroud was significantly involved in the design. Moreover, each of the playable characters (legends) has unique abilities that significantly affect the game.
The hefty tank Gibraltar can generate impenetrable shields, the scout Bloodhound can see his enemies’ footprints, and the healer Lifeline can heal.
Each character plays differently and, in combination with up to two teammates, can form very powerful teams.
Apex Legends currently offers four different maps, ranging from futuristic cities to desolate wastelands to a vast jungle.
For those who don’t always want to play battle royale, there is the arena mode, where you compete against an enemy team on a very small map and must secure three victories before the enemy.
Who should play it? Apex Legends has attracted numerous players in summer 2021, including big names like Nickmercs, away from CoD Warzone. On one hand, gameplay is convincing, and on the other, Apex with its ranking system also offers strong players an enjoyable grind for top spots in the rankings.
Moreover, Apex Legends is continuously developed by the devs, and each season introduces at least one new character and one new weapon. New maps and game mechanics are regularly added, along with numerous events and a supply of really cool, albeit expensive skins.
However, players who do not spend a single cent on the game are also provided with everything relevant to gameplay. Thus, those who enjoy battle royale or arena fights with cool heroes and dynamic gameplay and gunplay should definitely give Apex Legends a chance.
