What happens in If: Imaginary Friends? The young protagonist, played by Cailey Fleming (The Walking Dead), discovers one day that she can see and hear forgotten and now lonely imaginary friends.
They are briefly called IFs and, as seen in the trailer, are quite desperate given their situation. They have long been forgotten by their children and now wander the world alone.
Many of these imaginary friends not only look sad or lonely, but are also downright neglected and seem completely worn out.

Generally, the trailer shows that a lot of thought was given to the design of the IFs. Alongside fuzzy monsters and human-like beings, you even get to see a small melting marshmallow in the trailer, who loses its eye.
Together with her neighbor, played by Ryan Reynolds, the girl takes it upon herself to help these IFs. Because he also suddenly seems to be able to see the cute monsters.
