The Anime series of Digimon started in 1999. In this journey, we followed Tai, Matt, Sora, Izzy, Joe, Mimi, T.K., and Kari through the Digiworld. After saving the home of the digital beings from destruction, they returned to their original world. MeinMMO reveals what happened to the DigiDestined.
Although the original DigiDestined saved the day in Season 1, they appear again later on. In both Season 2 and the movie series “Digimon Adventure tri.”, they are still forced to fight alongside their Digipartners against evil.
The conclusion is the epilogue of Season 2. There, we see what happened to the DigiDestined in 2027. We reveal what each character would be doing if they lived in today’s age.

Digimon: What happened to the original DigiDestined
What happened after the events in Digimon? By now, the Digital world is recognized as a parallel world to humans. Every person has their own Digimon as a partner. It is possible to travel easily between the Digiworld and the normal world.
What are the DigiDestined doing today? Many of the DigiDestined have regular jobs and have started their own families. Two DigiDestined are even married now:
- Tai (39) is a diplomat between the real world and the Digiworld. He has a son.
- Matt (39) is an astronaut and became the first human to land on the moon with a Digimon. He is married to Sora and has two children.
- Sora (39) has become a fashion designer. She is married to Matt and has two children with him.
- Mimi (38) has become a nutritionist and co-hosts her own cooking show with Palmon. She has a son.
- Izzy (39) has become a scientist and lives to further explore the Digiworld. He has a daughter.
- Joe (40) is a doctor and became the first human to treat Digimon in the Digiworld. He has a son.
- Kari (36) has become a kindergarten teacher. She has a son.
- T.K. (36) has become a writer. He is writing a book in which he recounts his early adventures in the Digiworld. He has a son.
The children of the DigiDestined are also friends with each other and look out for one another when they venture into the Digiworld. In the final scene of the anime, they can be seen starting a new adventure with their partner Digimon.
What is the status of Digimon today? Even now, there are numerous movies, series, and video games related to Digimon. At the beginning of May, the newest film “Digimon Adventure 02 – The Beginning” was released in Germany. Some of the original DigiDestined are also featured in this.
