You voted in a survey about which MMORPGs you like the most and actively play. Here are your opinions.
This is what we wanted to know from you: New MMORPGs have been released less frequently lately, but there are still many big established titles. We asked you which of these MMORPGs you like to play the most, and here are the results.
A total of 2,790 users participated in the survey. Each of you could vote for up to 5 MMORPGs.
Rank 3: The Elder Scrolls Online

The third place in our survey went to ESO. Although the MMORPG had a rough start, it has gotten better over time and released its already third expansion, Elsweyr, at the beginning of summer.
The new class of the addon, Necromancer, the ongoing story of the addon, and general quality of life improvements were well received by fans. For many, it is even considered the best addon yet and is certainly one of the reasons why ESO received the third place from us.
Rank 2: Final Fantasy XIV
Number of votes: 773
Just narrowly ahead of ESO, FFXIV came in second place. Compared to our survey on the Top 50 Multiplayer Games, it performed much better. There, FFXIV ranked 9th place, actually far behind ESO, which took 5th place.
The MMORPG made headlines in recent weeks, during which gaming media praised the latest expansion Shadowbringers and its story. And it seems that the expansion has been well received in our community as well, as reflected in the 2nd place of the survey results.
Rank 1: World of Warcraft

It is no surprise that WoW topped the MMORPG survey. After all, it has been the market leader in the genre for a long time. It also ranked at the top in our survey of the Top 50 Multiplayer Games.
Currently, the top raiding guilds in WoW are competing for the world-first kill of Azshara. Although a major nerf dampened community morale, WoW remains at the top of MMORPGs.
What else was special?
What was also interesting: The survey clearly showed that many of you play multiple MMORPGs simultaneously or alternately.
When one is currently in a slump, you switch to the other MMORPG and complete content there. Especially among the top 3 MMORPGs in the survey, there seem to be frequent overlaps. User Nookiezilla wrote, for example:
WoW and FF XIV. The only two MMORPGs that always bring me back and keep me engaged longer. And that for both since their respective release.
And a large portion of other comments also mention multiple MMORPGs that they regularly play or at least pick up every now and then.
It seems that it is not a general rule that people commit to one MMORPG and do not touch others. Many of you are “multi-MMORPG players” or at least try to test as many games in the genre as possible and see if they appeal to you.
What did the Top 10 look like? Of the 23 MMORPGs available for selection, the following also made it into the Top 10 of the survey:
