In Fortnite, the map seems to be breaking. New fractures appear daily, destroying parts of the map. Here you can see where new fractures are currently forming and what has already been destroyed.
What is the deal with the fractures? On June 30, 2018, the “Visitor” launched a rocket that consequently damaged the world of Fortnite permanently. First, a huge crack appeared in the sky. It kept growing larger and branching out more and more.
Cracks in the sky and on the ground: Then suddenly, more fractures appeared that formed right in the game world. There, they systematically destroy landmarks from certain locations. And there are more every day.

Map of all fractures on the map: To ensure you see at any time where the previous fractures are located and where new anomalies have appeared, we have here a map with the current locations. The map comes from Fortnite player and map enthusiast TheSquatingDog.
In the following paragraphs, you will find more information about the locations of the known fractures.
Fracture #1 – The sign at Lonely Lodge
On July 1, one day after the rocket launch, the first new fracture appeared by the large hall at Lonely Lodge. There was a brief flicker, then suddenly a crack opened that sucked in the sign saying “Lonely Lodge”.
Fracture #2 – The sign at the Motel
The second fracture appeared on July 2, 2018, at the sign of the motel in the north of the map. Here too, a flicker was seen briefly. Soon after, the motel sign was gone.
Fracture #3 – The Tomato Head at Tomato Town
The most prominent victim of the fractures to date was recorded on July 3. The famous Tomato Head from Tomato Town was suddenly swallowed by the fracture.
Fracture #4 – The “Noms” sign at Retail Row
On July 4, the fractures continued their destructive work as usual. This time another sign was caught: the name sign of the “Noms” grocery store in Retail Row.
Fracture #5 – The “Durr-Burger” sign at Greasy Grove
The fractures seem to have a preference for signs. And particularly for signs related to food. For on July 5, a fracture appeared at the sign of the fast-food restaurant “Durr-Burger” at Greasy Grove.
On July 6, the burger was finally swallowed. However, it was not lost forever, as it soon appeared in real life in a desert in California. Things are getting mysterious!
Fracture #6 – Hillside behind Greasy Grove
The sixth fracture appeared on July 6, and for the first time, something changed. Because at the hillside behind Greasy Grove, there was nothing that the fracture could destroy. Therefore, some players suspect that it is spitting something out instead. We will know more when the fracture has fully developed.
And the players were right: In the night from July 6 to July 7, the fracture at the hillside spit out an anchor. Fortunately, some fracture researchers in Fortnite captured the event in video form.
Fracture #7 – At the prison in Moisty Mire
Over the weekend, another fracture opened that, however, again did not swallow anything but instead made something appear. This time, a rather battered, ancient cart appeared.
Fracture #8 – Again Moisty Mire
Once again, a fracture has appeared. On July 9, initial signs emerged at Moisty Mire. At the coordinates I9 (just below the “I” in “Mire”), something could soon appear. Fans suspect that according to a data mining leak, a skeleton was supposed to appear. And indeed, that happened.
Update: And indeed, during the day, a skeleton appeared from the fracture. It looks like a kind of dinosaur. Is there possibly still something to the story about the swamp monster from Moisty Mire?
What is behind the fractures?
Is the world about to break? The fractures seem to be targeting landmarks and signs. However, the fractures have yet to be really game-relevant, as they have so far mostly affected the name signs of locations. Nevertheless, the world seems to be breaking more and more.
Theories about the fractures: The fractures are currently occupying the Fortnite community:
- Many players suspect a new map that will start in Season 5.
- Other fans, on the other hand, are counting on time travel.
Clarity on July 12? What exactly will happen in the end will probably only be revealed at the start of Season 5 on July 12, 2018. Until then, we will regularly update this article and add new fractures.
