Bungie has introduced the new companion app for Destiny 2, called “The Companion”. Read here what changes specifically and what new features the app will receive.
The 23rd of August is an important day for Bungie and for the Guardians. On that day, the services on Bungie.net will be prepared for Destiny 2.
As Bungie has now announced, the Companion app, which has accompanied us for the last years, will also receive an update on August 23rd. We will reveal to you what new features will be added to the “Destiny 2” Companion app.
These new features are in the Destiny 2 Companion app
Bungie mentions one of the new features as Explore. This means that you will stay updated on what is happening in the Destiny world with the app:
- News and updates about Destiny 2
- Information about new events and activities
- Creative content from the community
- Participation in communities that provide help in groups and forums
Additionally, Clan features will be added:
- Functions for clan joining or clan leadership with invitation of other players
- Management of the clan overview. You see who is currently playing
- Setting a unique banner that symbolizes clan membership
- Tracking clanning progress and shared rewards
- Text chat for clan members
Adding clan management to the app is a meaningful innovation. Previously, this was only possible through bungie.net.
Which features return from Destiny 1?
The following features from the Destiny 1 Companion app will be offered by Bungie in the new version:
Equipment – Management of weapons, gear, and inventory
- Inspect your favorite weapons and armor
- View item stats, perks, and inventory configuration
- Manage items for your characters and equip them
Recruitment – Player search for various activities
- Browse a list of requests and choose a team
- Create a fireteam, accept or decline requests, and chat with your teammates
Profile Management – Management of account information and settings
- Set your identity and what others can see or know
- Set notification and communication preferences
- Communicate and interact with friends and new Guardians
- Redeem Bungie codes and view your history
Support – Help from player support specialists
- Report issues that are preventing you from playing
- Read articles with answers to frequently asked questions
- Chat with other Guardians who can help
You can update or download the app after the maintenance work is completed on the 23rd of August. The app is available for both Android and iOS.
The features for Destiny 1 will no longer be available after the transition. However, Bungie has confirmed that the API for Destiny 1 will remain active and accessible. So you can still use community-created apps for Destiny 1.
