5. Harry missed half of his games
Although Harry made history as the youngest seeker in 100 years at Hogwarts, he played remarkably few games during his six years at school.
- In a total of 18 games he should have participated – three per year.
- In fact, he only played nine of them.
Reasons for this included injuries or detention for Harry. Games were often canceled, such as in the year of the Triwizard Tournament.
Only in his third school year did Harry participate in all three games of the season. However, he never missed a game against Slytherin. In total, Gryffindor won seven of the nine games Harry participated in. He suffered his two defeats against Hufflepuff.
6. There are over 700 fouls
There are many things that can go wrong in Quidditch. In fact, there are over 700. That is the number of different fouls that exist.
It must have been particularly tough during the Quidditch World Cup in 1473. Because all 700 fouls supposedly occurred there.
However, about 90% of these fouls are unfortunately no longer possible since it was prohibited in 1538 to use one’s wand during the game. Especially absurd fouls that still exist today include:
- Setting a rival’s broom on fire
- The attempt to behead the opponent’s keeper with a broad sword
- Attacking an opposing player with an axe
7. Germany is the European champion
In real life, there are no flying brooms. However, Quidditch, also called Quadball, has managed to establish itself as a sport. To replace the missing magic, Muggles have come up with some alternatives:
- Each player must have a plastic tube as a handicap between their legs.
- The golden snitch is a tennis ball that is attached to the waistband of a neutral player.
- Bludgers are fortunately not meant to knock players off their brooms. Instead, a hit player must run back to their goal hoops before they can rejoin the game.
There are also official European and World Championships.
- For the first time, Germany was able to win the championship in 2024.
- We haven’t been world champions so far. However, in the last World Cup, Germany managed to finish in second place.
