Crusaders are one of the most versatile classes in Diablo Immortal. They serve as tanks or supporters in a group, but can also deal really good damage. MeinMMO shows you which skills, attributes, and items to best play the class.
Diablo Immortal offers a plethora of different items and mechanics with which you can optimize your character. To make sure you know exactly what to pay attention to when playing Crusader, we explain everything about the optimal:
- Attributes
- Skills
- Equipment
- Gems
Crusaders, or in the original: Crusader, are a hybrid class. They can take on various roles, but in most cases, they serve as damage dealers or tanks. The latter role refers to classes that absorb damage from enemies and protect their own group.
For both play styles, the Crusader has ideal conditions, which is why he ranks high on the tier list of Diablo Immortal. You can see gameplay of the Crusader and the other 5 classes here in the video:
Diablo Immortal: Crusader Build
These are the strengths of the Crusader: The most important feature of the Crusader is his area attacks, or AoE skills. Almost all skills of the class are based on the fact that you fight and kill many enemies at the same time.
With skills like Holy, Judgement, or Heavenly Execution, you can wipe out entire hordes of enemies in seconds. Additionally, you have the ability to prevent damage to yourself and even your group.
With supportive skills, control effects on enemies, and a horse, you also serve as a supporter and ‘scout’ in a group. You ride ahead, gather enemies, and bind them to you to maintain important killstreaks or trigger events.
Crusader Build: The Most Important Attributes
Here are the most important attributes ranked:
- Strength – Increases your damage
- Persistence – Increases armor penetration and armor
- Vitality – Gives you more life
- Willpower – Increases potential and resistance
- Intelligence – Provides no bonuses to the Crusader
As for secondary stats, you should pay attention to critical hit chance and critical hit damage. Alternatively, increasing all damage is helpful. All other effects are less important for this build.
Crusader Build: Skills and Rotation
For the best solo build or when you’re responsible for damage in a group, use the following skills:
- Punish (Main attack)
- Splitting
- Holy
- Heavenly Execution
- Spear Shield
If you want to focus more on your role as a tank and supporter, you’ll find alternatives further down in the build.
Rotation: Start with Splitting to gather a group of enemies and bind them to you. This is the most important skill for this build. The skill increases your movement speed and allows you to ride through enemies. You can chain up to 8 enemies and drag them behind you – depending on the Legendary.
Splitting makes you the fastest class in the game and allows you to progress faster as well as escape dangerous situations. Additionally, its damage is essential for efficiently killing enemies.
Once you have enough enemies bound to you, activate a Holy to deal damage. Then use Spear Shield and Heavenly Execution to take down large groups. Finish off remaining enemies with Punish. You can see how the build looks in action in the embedded video by YouTuber KaidGames:
Crusader Build: Equipment
- Weapon: Tumult
- Heavenly Execution creates a blade storm that damages enemies. However, you can no longer teleport to the target location.
- Shield: Dolinenkreuz
- Spear Shield hovers in one place, dealing damage to enemies and slowing them down.
- Head: Arrow Guardian
- The inspiration from Holy Banner moves with you.
Note: There is no helmet that helps the solo build. Arrow Guardian, however, is useful for your tank option, which is why it is ideal as a hybrid alternative. Otherwise, use any helmet except for Multi-eyed Aegis.
- Armor: Besieger
- Splitting regularly calls bombardments that deal damage to enemies.
- Shoulders: Sivket’s Advantage
- Increases the duration of Splitting.
- Pants: Blade Greaves
- Splitting no longer chains enemies but instead leaves a trail of fire behind you that burns enemies.
For your secondary items, it’s best to use the Perfect Wind Strength set. This increases your movement speed and damage. It also makes you temporarily immune to damage. In our guide, you’ll learn where to find the sets and what they do.
Crusader Build: Legendary and Normal Gems
The following priority applies to normal gems:
- Red: Tourmaline > Ruby
- Blue: Sapphire > Aquamarine, unless you are playing tank. Crusaders benefit greatly from armor.
- Yellow: Citrine and Topaz are about equally rated. Choose the gem of the highest rank here.
You can best obtain normal gems through hidden hoards. Daily, you can collect up to 6 gems here. In the guide, we reveal where to find hidden hoards in Diablo Immortal.
Legendary gems provide better resonance but are a bit more complex to farm and it can take time to acquire them. Therefore, we list the best legendary gems to start with and those you should aim for at the end for your build.
Legendary gems with 1-2 stars for beginners:
- Endless Torments
- Zealous Fang
- Eye of the Berserker
- Lightning Core
- Seled’s Weakening
- Chained Death
Legendary gems with 5 stars for the end build:
- Blood-Soaked Jade
- Blessing of the Worthy
- Dripping Gall
- Call of the Howler
- Petrified Flesh Shard
- Lightning Core (2 stars)
The legendary gems with 5 stars are sorted by value. If you don’t get them all, try to replace them in the order from top to bottom. However, the 2-star gems are already strong enough to get you through most content.
Obtaining and upgrading gems is the major pay-to-win factor of Diablo Immortal. You can get the best gems for free, but you need to invest a lot of time. How exactly these items work and how to obtain them can be seen in the video:
Crusader Build in Endgame: Paragon, Awakening and Spells
The best Paragon for all builds is Conqueror. Develop this tree to deal more damage. As a tank, Survivor is suitable as an alternative, but only if you’re always in a group. Otherwise, Conqueror is always the better choice. If you have excess points later, you can invest them in Gladiator for PvP or in Treasure Hunter for farming.
If you want to reforge your armor later, use Tremor Stones, Vengeance Stones, or Devastator Stones. When awakening your items, you should prioritize improving the following slots:
- Shoulders
- Legs
- Shield
- Chest
- Weapon
- Head
Spells enhance your abilities. You can easily build spells yourself and earn platinum, although it is challenging to get the perfect spell. If you don’t get the perfect spell, here is your priority:
- Punish
- Splitting
- Spear Shield
- Holy
- Heavenly Execution
Alternatives: How to Play in a Group
If you do not want to play alone or just want to deal damage, you can quickly become a supporter and tank in the group with a few changes. You only need to make minimal adjustments:
Skills
- Holy => Summoning of Light
- Heavenly Execution => Holy Banner
Equipment:
- Chest: Justice without Favor
- Shoulders: Wind-Blessed Shoulder Armor
Whether with pure damage or as a tank, the Crusader is one of the best classes in Diablo Immortal. However, if you want to fully exploit its potential, you must invest a lot of time – or dig into your wallet. Especially if you want to try your hand at PvP:
