Without much warning, the developers announced the end of the Closed Beta for Diablo Immortal. This will end on January 7, 2022. At the same time, Blizzard intends to discuss the future of the upcoming mobile Diablo on the same day.
This is the situation:
- The Closed Beta of Diablo Immortal has been running in Australia and Canada since October 2021. It was expanded to China, Japan, and South Korea in November.
- Diablo Immortal has impressed testers so far. However, Blizzard has now announced the end of the Closed Beta quite suddenly.
- On the same day, a livestream by the Chinese team is supposed to take place where the developers will talk about the future.
When does the Beta end? Today, on Friday, January 7, 2022, at 6:00 PM German time, the Closed Beta of Diablo Immortal will end. Blizzard stated this just a few days earlier in an official blog post. It was already known that the Beta was only supposed to run for 3 months.
In the subreddit, many fans are quite happy about the end of the Beta – not because it was so bad, but because the community wants to play it themselves. However, since the Closed Beta was only available to a small number of players in a few parts of the world and only on Android, everyone is now eagerly awaiting new information. But it will come soon.
Release still in 2022 – Will there be an Open Beta beforehand?
Here’s what’s next: Since 12:00 PM German time (7:00 PM in China), a well over an hour-long livestream has been running on the Chinese site of Diablo Immortal. The developers are being interviewed and the future of the ARPG is among the topics discussed.
What will be discussed in the “Outlook” is still unknown. However, Diablo Immortal is supposed to launch in early 2022 and be available for Android and iOS.
Can I test it beforehand? It has already been discussed in the past that there should be an Open Beta between the closed test and the release. Whether and when this will happen is not yet confirmed.
It is also open whether it will be expanded to Europe or remain limited to Asia, Australia, and Canada. However, it is likely that another global test with corresponding servers will take place. Whether iOS will be invited this time is still unclear.
Some speculations suggest that an announcement or even the beta launch could happen as early as this week. We will probably learn more about this in the livestream on January 7.
