Diablo Immortal is apparently approaching release. The new action RPG is now available for pre-order on iOS devices. A release date has surfaced, which was immediately contradicted by the head of the project. So, when is Diablo Immortal actually coming out?
This is happening with Diablo Immortal right now: On March 28, Blizzard announced new information about Diablo Immortal. You will be able to choose your classes freely, so you won’t need to create secondary characters.
Additionally, Diablo Immortal is now available for pre-order in the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store. A little treat for fans: At 30 million pre-orders, there will be a set for all players who complete the tutorial within 30 days after release. Both the pre-order and the game itself are free.
Furthermore, an alleged release date was also found in the App Store. Accordingly, Diablo Immortal should be released on June 30, 2022. This information immediately caused a stir, but that was quickly dismissed.
What’s the deal with the release? The new head of Diablo, Rod Fergusson, immediately responded on Twitter: June 30 is just a placeholder. This does not necessarily mean that the game won’t be released on June 30. But the date is not set in stone.
Nevertheless, it is already possible to better narrow down when exactly Diablo Immortal is supposed to be released.
Release in June is not so unlikely
When will Diablo Immortal be released? June 30 is the end of the second quarter of 2022. This means that Diablo Immortal is still expected to be released within the first half of the year. A similar hint was made by Game Director Wyatt Cheng regarding the end of the closed beta.
MeinMMO recently conducted an exclusive interview with the heads of Diablo Immortal. They also mentioned that the release is indeed planned for the first half of 2022. However, no specific date was given. You can find the full interview here on MeinMMO as part of Find Your Next Game starting April 6.
What else is missing? Blizzard is currently still working on implementing feedback from the beta and polishing the key systems. This, however, also means that Diablo Immortal is already in the home stretch.
Even though a specific release date is still missing, the idea of a launch around June is probably quite plausible. The time until June can still be used for improvements and pre-release information, as is often the case with larger releases. The challenge will only be to prevent further leaks and datamining regarding unannounced content during this time:
