Diablo Immortal focuses on social interaction as an MMO. But what happens when nefarious players have too much power is demonstrated by a story from the community. Fans call it “the greatest heist of all time” (in Diablo).
What kind of theft was that? During the Faction War between Shadows and Immortals, the leader of the Immortals allegedly robbed his entire clan on a US server. Several players reported this on reddit.
Every Sunday, the Rite of Exile takes place, the big showdown of Diablo Immortal. Throughout the week, both Shadows and Immortals gather power and rewards. In the end, the Immortals receive a reward based on their contribution. In another thread on reddit, a player showed a screenshot of the rewards for this week:
- 55 million gold
- 318,000 Hilt, the most important Free2Play currency
- 3 legendary items
This reward is normally divided among all participants. However, shortly before the event, the current leader of the guild, the “Immortal” himself, kicked all members from his clan except for one friend. The result: the two lost the rite, but managed to keep all the rewards for themselves.

Immortal allegedly steals everything, fans demand rules
How did this happen? As reddit user Senior_Discount939 explains, this was all made possible by the change in clan leadership. The original leader had to step down due to personal issues and appointed another leader.
Here you can learn more about the factions in Diablo Immortal:
This was only supposed to be a temporary solution; however, clan leaders can only be changed every 14 days. After the deadline, the corresponding Immortal was selected, who allegedly committed the heist.
According to players, he is rather unbearable and toxic, even received chat bans. After an argument, he cut off contact and eventually removed all members. Allegedly, he even received money from a competing Shadow clan for it.
This is what players say about it: Many agree that such a thing should not be allowed to happen. There are no safety nets against such bad behavior that regulate what a clan leader is allowed to do and what not. Currently, leaders have almost complete power within their clan.
Whether that is realistic is hard to say. In many MMOs, clan leaders are equipped with absolute rights. In New World, for example, a player stole from his guild and then simply changed factions.
However, the mood in Diablo Immortal is currently tense anyway. After the 1st big content update, many players are disappointed. There is a lack of incentive to keep playing and progress. However, there may be relief soon:
