After many have been able to start on mobile, the PC release of Diablo Immortal is now upon us. Will it run smoothly? Blizzard has already announced that some issues are known.
Update 18:40: The PC client went live a few minutes earlier than planned. You can now play Diablo Immortal. If the button is still grayed out for you, restart the Battle.net client.
When does Diablo Immortal launch on PC? The official time for the PC release of Diablo Immortal is Thursday, June 02, 2022, at 7:00 PM. However, the PC version went live a few minutes earlier.
- It launched earlier on iOS and Android.
- You can download the PC version before the launch.
- Crossplay between the versions is also possible.
However, Blizzard emphasizes that today’s PC release of Immortal is still an “open beta” for the client. Therefore, expect a game that is still in progress and not fully finished.
That’s why Blizzard reached out to players in advance to clarify where issues might be expected.
In general, Blizzard explains that they want to collect feedback in the phase after the release to further improve and modify the game. Therefore, the list of issues should not be seen as final, it could still grow.
These issues Diablo Immortal may have at PC release
For now, Blizzard expects the following issues with the PC version (via blizzard):
Gameplay: According to Blizzard, inaccuracies could still occur here, especially with movements, skills, and interactions. Additionally, the “Print” key does not save screenshots correctly in the game directory.
Controls: The ESC key can open the main menu over other menus. Moreover, the modifier keys ALT, CTRL, and SHIFT are not yet supported in the key mapping. If that bothers you: You can also play Immortal with a controller.
UI: You cannot resize the game window when using windowed mode. Some elements in the chat are currently missing, such as slash commands, copy, paste, and selecting all text.
Accessibility: The text-to-speech transcription may not work for some languages.
Further issues are currently not included in the list. However, it is possible that these will still grow after the release.
How does Blizzard handle errors? According to the statement, the list will be updated, so they apparently want to be transparent about potential issues. Furthermore, Blizzard intends to use patches and hotfixes to address problems – and to keep track of these in the list as well.
Hotfixes are expected to be used more frequently and will not require large downloads, while patches will require data downloads. In that case, the game will need to be updated.
So far, there are no “huge” errors known for the PC version. However, during the mobile launch, there were some problems with graphics on various devices.
