World tier 1 or 2? Start with world tier 1 if you want to get through the campaign quickly and efficiently.
Which world tier suits me? It may make sense to play on world tier 2. But it’s not worthwhile unless you want a greater challenge right from the start.
The campaign of Diablo 4 features long quests with cinematics and many excursions throughout Sanctuary. However, the bonuses of world tier 2 do not make up for this:
- Monsters give 20% more experience
- Monsters drop 15% more gold
You will progress more slowly through the campaign due to stronger monsters, which means it will take you longer to reach world tier 3. This is where the real grind begins:
However, if you’re just casually traveling through the open world and not stressing out, then you can also go for world tier 2 if you want the enemies to put up a bit of a fight. Some events and bosses can be quite tough, but definitely doable.
If you want to quickly get through the campaign and into the endgame, then world tier 1 is your choice. Once you’ve completed the campaign, you don’t need to repeat the story with another character.

How can I change the world tier? For that, you will find a statue in the first major city, Kyovashad, in the northeast that resembles a kind of fountain. Use it, and you will be able to adjust the world tier:
