Before Season 1, there was a major patch for Diablo 4. The update made changes to the balancing of all classes. The community sees the Sorceress as a clear loser and is frustrated by the lack of buffs.
What happened to the Sorceress? You can find the complete patch notes in our MeinMMO overview. Generally, the following changes were made for the Sorceress:
- The damage of all skills has been slightly increased
- Mana costs have been reduced
- The chance to trigger negative effects has been increased
Thus, the Sorceress has been primarily strengthened in the offensive. Many skills have been increased by a single-digit percentage and therefore deal more damage. However, many players find this not enough.
Compared to other classes, the Sorceress is said to have received the least buffs, which is why many players are now considering starting a new class. Therefore, they are discussing which of the other four classes they should switch to (via reddit.com).
In the following video you can see a sample build for the Sorceress class:
What annoys players about the Sorceress? On the one hand, many players are bothered by the fact that the Sorceress has not received any defensive buffs. While the Sorceress can deal good damage, she has little chance of surviving enemy attacks due to her low defense, especially in direct combat.
The biggest concerns are the Paragon nodes that grant the Sorceress resistance to all elements. Starting at level 50, it is possible to collect Paragon points and unlock additional effects on the Paragon board.
However, the effects are either reported by the community to be buggy or too weak to make a noticeable impact. According to user KingLemming, the resistances can only reach a maximum of 30 percent at World Tier 4.
On the other hand, many players have already written tickets to Blizzard and posted in the official Diablo 4 forum that a certain aspect cannot be found in the game. The legendary “Mage Lord’s Offensive Aspect” has not yet been found by any player. This aspect also provides higher defense and would be a great addition for the Sorceress.
The community believes that the aspect is not in the game. One user has already thought that he is extremely unlucky because he has not found such an aspect up to level 100.

Other voices from the community are also negative:
- amazonjazz: “It’s like Christmas when your grandparents give your rich cousins a Steam Deck and you, being poor, get socks.”
- GhostCalib3r: “It was 50/50 between Hunter and Sorceress. If only I had known back then how wrong my choice was.”
- GlumpsAlot: “I’m a Sorceress at level 70 and holy shit, they need a revamp like everywhere. They’re mushy and weak, even with the glass cannon skill.”
It remains to be seen whether Blizzard will provide a hotfix and make further changes to the Sorceress. In the past, Blizzard has often listened to community feedback, which is why there is a chance that the Sorceress’s defense might be buffed later.
However, one user believes that the buff would throw off the balancing and that Blizzard therefore would not touch the Sorceress anymore. We can be curious about what Blizzard will have in store in the upcoming patches.
