The rumor currently going around is that “Reign of Terror” is the next big thing for Diablo, maybe even Diablo 4, which will be presented at BlizzCon 2018. But Blizzard says: There is nothing to it.
What is this rumor about? Currently, major gaming sites report that “Reign of Terror” could be the next title for Diablo.
People come to this idea because merchandise has surfaced in the “BlizzCon shop” showing the words “Reign of Terror”. There are two T-shirts, one for boys, one for girls, and a poster.
That’s why it fits so well: An announcement about the future of Diablo has long been expected:
- On one hand, it is known that Blizzard is working on a “unannounced Diablo project”
- furthermore, the studio announced in August that they are indeed working on “multiple Diablo projects”
- and at BlizzCon 2018, the future of the franchise is set to be revealed in a panel
And “Reign of Terror” could fit in nicely, either as an expansion to Diablo 3 or as a successor. The find fits so well with this expectation.
The idea is: Blizzard intended to keep the title “Reign of Terror” a secret, but some intern put the merchandise online too early in the shop and now a leak is out and eagle-eyed people have already spotted it and drawn the right conclusions. Ha, marketing plan ruined.
This is what Blizzard says: Blizzard tells the US site GameSpot that although these are names and logos for new products that will be presented at BlizzCon, they do not refer directly to fresh content for Diablo.
When will we know more? Ultimately, we will have to wait until the big Diablo panel at BlizzCon 2018 on November 2. The Diablo panel comes right after the opening presentation. Normally, this spot is reserved for the “biggest reveal of BlizzCon”. That’s why so many are eagerly awaiting November 2.
We will report on MeinMMO about what will be announced there.
