Diablo 4 offers various difficulty levels, known as world tiers. Only 2 of them are available to you from the start. MeinMMO explains how to unlock world tiers 3 and 4 and what benefits they bring.
How do I unlock world tier 3? Master the dungeon “Cathedral of Light” in the north of Kyovashad. The “Capstone” dungeon is only visible at world tier 2 and should be shown to you via a quest.
Then visit the world tier statue in Kyovashad to complete the quest.
How do I unlock world tier 4? Master the dungeon “Fallen Temple” in the northeast of the Dry Steppes at the temples of the Great Evils. The entrance is the same as the last dungeon in the campaign when facing the final boss and is only visible at world tier 3.

Do I need to finish the campaign? Yes, you will only receive the quest for world tier 3 once you have finished the campaign. The quest for world tier 4 is available only once you have unlocked world tier 3.
Do I need to reach level 50? Not necessarily. But enemies in world tier 3 do not scale below level 50, so you will always face enemies at higher levels. This is one of the factors to level up faster, but it can also take time.
The same applies for world tier 4. Here, enemies do not scale below level 70, but you can set the difficulty much faster.

World tier 3 in Diablo 4 provides better loot
Why should I play at world tier 3? Once you reach world tier 3, you can complete hell tides in the world. These are part of the endgame activities of Diablo 4 and are the best way to obtain more loot.
Additionally, you can only find unique items that are crucial for many builds starting at world tier 3. Before that, you will only find “normal” legendaries. All items can also be “sacred,” which typically makes them stronger than regular ones.
At world tier 4, the possibility of finding “ancestral” items is added. The stats on ancestral items are usually even higher than those on sacred ones.

When should I play at world tier 3? Once you can easily handle the enemies. It is usually not worth trying to push through the enemies with your last strength and hoping for upgrades.
It is more efficient to slaughter as many enemies as possible in a short time and filter through the huge loot pile. There you can decide whether to sell, salvage, or keep the loot.
Once you are sure that you can defeat higher-level enemies just as quickly as your current foes, you should switch. From then on, you will receive better equipment and can prepare for new challenges.
