Plenty of loot is both a curse and a blessing – players of Diablo 4 quickly encounter the problem of an overloaded inventory. One of them has discovered a clever trick to save valuable space.
That jewels clog the inventory has been a recurring criticism for some time now. Players are disturbed that they have to reserve at least 7 slots in the inventory if they want to collect all 7 types – even more when different qualities drop.
A trick comes in very handy.
What is the trick to free up space? On the Diablo subreddit, user u/Born_Pension_8210 notes in his post that you can save valuable space by combining items. Many equipment pieces have empty sockets into which you can place your jewels.
He writes:
If you need a few extra inventory slots to pick everything up before you head back to town, put jewels in equipment that you will dismantle. Dismantling items with socketed gems is free.

Many Reddit users are excited about his idea because it is quick, actually quite obvious, and super helpful.
“That’s actually pretty smart,” writes the user minor_thing2022 in the subreddit. Rubicon2-0 jokes: “HOTFIX in progress – Servers offline! People are starting to use too much inventory space! WARNING! WARNING!”

Why is loot becoming a problem? Of course, it’s always great when you find many weapons, armor pieces, jewels, and potions. Sometimes, however, after fights, so much is lying around that you have no more space in your inventory and have to sort things out.
Ideally, you would want to take all the loot with you. On one hand, you might need the items, on the other hand, you need the materials if you dismantle them. Selling would also bring in money, which you need for repairs and upgrades among other things.
Removing jewels from equipment you want to keep using costs gold. Dismantling items you no longer need, however, is free and leaves the jewel in your inventory.
Of course, it would be even more helpful to have an extra bag or an extra category in the inventory, like for potions. These are important if you want to level up faster.
