In Diablo 4, there are numerous cosmetics that you can unlock. The Diadem of the Ancients is one of them – however, players currently cannot equip it as a skin.
What kind of item is this? The Diadem of the Ancients is a cosmetic headgear that you can obtain as a drop from the boss Lord Zir. Usually, you can simply activate cosmetics with a click and add them to your wardrobe. However, this is currently not possible with the Diadem.
Additionally, there is currently a bug where you cannot equip the cosmetic headgear if it is already in the wardrobe. It simply does not show up. If you have already equipped it, for example, in the eternal realm, you can see it on your character, but not in the listing of all headgear variants.
Cosmetic turns into item without stats
What do the players say about it? In a post on Reddit, the user Dunc4n1d4h0 posted a picture of the Diadem on October 13, 2024. It is noticeable that he can equip, stash, or drop the item. However, there is no way to add it as a skin to the wardrobe.
He asks the community what the purpose of the item is, except to troll. Two of the diadems dropped from Lord Zir; he can equip them, but they are not cosmetic, he writes.
In the comments, GeoTrouveriendutou points out that it is supposed to be a cosmetic item, but currently cannot be used as such. The item states that you can use it to add it to your wardrobe (as you can see in this older Reddit post). Brave-Ad-8456 advises to put the item in the loot chest until the bug is fixed.
Also in the Blizzard Forum, the faulty Diadem is a topic. There, Wh1skey writes: “I just got this from Zir, and it is no longer a cosmetic but an equipable item without stats. 1 armor, 1 item power. Account-bound, non-salvageable.” As a “real” headgear, the item is not worth it.
And Icetor comments: “Blizzard, please do not take away the best cosmetic armor piece from Vessel of Hatred. Bring the crown back to our collections for transmog!”
When will this be fixed? So far, Blizzard has not commented on the Diadem of the Ancients in the forum, on Reddit, or on X. It is currently unclear when the developers will resolve the issue so that players can activate and equip the Diadem as a cosmetic again.
Currently, there is much criticism and some suggestions for improvement from the community. Recently, players were complaining about the only seasonal mechanic of Season 6, because: The event was just too slow for them. Blizzard released an update for this, and now some players think that the mechanic should remain permanently in Diablo 4 – but differently.
