Season 7: Theme, Features, and New Uniques
What is the theme of Season 7? The theme of Season 7 is “Season of Witchcraft”. The focus is on the new powers of witchcraft and the occult gems.

What’s in Season 7? In the “Campfire Chat” livestream, the developers talked about the seasonal content and some “quality of life” changes in Diablo 4:
- New Armory: In the armory, you have the option to save, name, and switch your builds. This is a feature that players have been requesting since the release of Diablo 4.
- Season Mechanics: The powers of witchcraft essentially represent the mechanics in Season 7. You learn witchcraft by collecting seasonal reputation through completing corresponding tasks for the “Whispering Tree” and defeating “Headrotted” enemies. You receive and improve the powers at a witch circle altar by the “Whispering Tree”.
- The powers of witchcraft remind of the Witch Doctor from Diablo 3 in terms of individual skills. With the Piranhado skill, for example, you summon a “Piranhado” that pulls enemies in and deals damage. And “Vengeful Spirit” spawns a servant that draws damage to itself and deals shadow damage.
- New seasonal enemies, the “Headrotted”: There are specific bounty tasks for the “Whispering Tree” that relate to the special enemies, but also boss variants of them. If you defeat the bosses, you will receive their heads, which you can exchange for the seasonal occult gems. You have better chances of getting the heads at higher torment levels and with a Whisper’s potion. Killing the “Headrotted” also gives you “Restless Rot”.
- Occult Gems: The occult gems are seasonal, socketable items that you get at the “Whispering Tree”. For this, you need, among other things, the heads of the “Headrotted”, and gem fragments. The gems grant you additional affixes and enhance the powers of witchcraft. Each occult gem provides you with 160 armor and 8% resistance to all types of damage.

- Items: There will be 8 new uniques and 3 new runes (the latter if you possess Vessel of Hatred). Additionally, “empowered” items (ancestral items) will be revamped. When an ancestral item drops, it always drops with an aspect in the best variant. The general drop rate of items will be increased at all torment levels. This was a criticism of the community in Season 6 as some variants of the ancestral items drop rarer than the super-rare mythic uniques.
- New Reputation System: In Season 7 there will be another reputation system where you will receive items, materials, and finally a “Magnificent Spark” for crafting Mythic Uniques. You earn reputation by completing Whisper tasks. At specific reputation levels, you unlock new witch powers.
- Class Quest: You can permanently unlock the class quest if you have already completed it with a character of that class. For this, you need to log in with the character once (seasonal characters are also possible) and unlock it for the entire account afterwards. Therefore, you do not need to go through the quest line again – but you can if you want.
- “Quality of Life” Changes: The layout of the area at the “Whispering Tree” will be revamped, traders will be added, and the waypoint will be moved so that players can reach the tree faster. Additionally, there will be “Ravens of the Tree” on the map where you can drop off your gifts so you do not always have to go to the tree. On top of that, you will get new reward boxes with “empowered” items there.
