The highly anticipated Season 4 has finally arrived in Diablo 4. After a few minor issues, players can now log in and play. MeinMMO provides some starting assistance if you’re not quite sure how to begin.
What’s new with Season 4: The latest season completely revamps Diablo 4. Some even say it feels like an entirely different, new game. At least in the most important aspect, that’s true: The loot has been completely overhauled.
You will no longer find overwhelming numbers of affixes and can compare items more easily. In return, there is a new crafting system that allows you to improve your items in the endgame. The core information is summarized here:

In the endgame, you will find a new dungeon called “The Pit” with 200 levels, where you must slay monsters against the clock. Andariel joins as a new pinnacle boss, and all bosses now have “Tormented” variants at level 200 for even more loot. Summoning materials are now more frequent.
The actual season theme is the Iron Wolves, who are roaming in the (also revamped) Hell Tides. However, almost all changes are playable in both eternal and seasonal realms.
The only exception is the short seasonal quest line with the “Call of the Wolf” task, which grants you some rewards as well as an elixir that increases the level and loot of enemies in Hell Tides.

1. Choose the right class for you
In principle, it doesn’t matter which class you choose as long as you enjoy it. All classes in Season 4 are quite similar; you will only feel real differences if you want to mingle in the highest levels of the Pit or climb the leaderboard.
If you are looking for the ideal class to start with, this time there is a clear choice: The Necromancer is currently the best class in Season 4, whether for leveling or in the endgame.

It is now somewhat easier to choose your defensive stats:
2. Go for Hell Tides – This is the best content for just about everything
Hell Tides, along with the loot, is the feature that has undergone the most adjustments. Essentially, from now on, they will be your best method for farming and leveling from level 1 onwards.
In Hell Tides, you not only get heaps of loot, but also materials and can complete events for additional XP, gold, and obols. However, there have been a few changes to Hell Tides:
- You now collect Threat. If you are threatening enough, Hell Assassins will come and want to kill you.
- From the Assassins, you get Dooms Hearts, with which you can hold a ritual and summon a new boss.
- Hell Tides are now available from World Tier 1. The higher the World Tier, the more XP you will receive.
Thus, Hell Tides are your best tool for leveling quickly. The mob density has also significantly increased. You can find more tips here:
3. Save materials, gold, and currencies for as long as possible
Season 4 is going to be expensive, and in several respects. You will not only need a lot of gold, but will also have to farm tons of materials. While you should play as you wish, especially if you have little time, you should use your resources wisely.
Crafting materials for hardening and completion can be obtained from the Pit, with different ones depending on the level. However, you will need many to fully upgrade an item, so you should only do this for items that you have already found to be strong – otherwise, you will be constantly swapping.
For crafting, you also need a massive amount of gold. Attempts can no longer fail, unlike on the PTR. However, upgrading from 11 to 12 alone costs a staggering 10 million gold. So save up well.
Most importantly for leveling will be that you take the Whispering Obols with you. Because the “Gambler” has also received an update. At level 100, you are guaranteed to receive 925 items, and they can not only be legendary but also have great affixes. Additionally, the limit for obols has been increased. It is sensible to hoard them: A vendor will be much more important in Diablo 4 Season 4 – You should start hoarding his currency while leveling.
