Diablo 4 offers you, in addition to new activities in Season 3, a mechanical companion that you can customize with various stones to match your playstyle. With 2 special Uber Uniques for your companion, Blizzard promises you incredible power.
In Season 3 of Diablo 4, you will be accompanied by a new mechanical companion, the Seneschal:
- With 2 guiding stones, you can determine its behavior, such as whether it defends as a tank or attacks
- Tuning stones change the abilities of the Seneschal and are comparable to runes or affixes, of which you can equip 6
- The official blog for Season 3 describes 12 guiding stones and 27 tuning stones
In addition to the described stones, there are also 2 secret tuning stones, only the name is known. Evernight and Genesis are said to give you power
that far exceeds that of ordinary people
.
What exactly the two stones can do is still unknown, but in an interview with PCGamer, Blizzard revealed some additional information.
The 2 special stones are like Uber Uniques
In the interview, the two special tuning stones are compared to the Uber Uniques. They are said to reflect the power and rarity of the latter, and one has the right to brag
if one finds them.
Evernight
is described in a bit more detail than in the cryptic blog post. This tuning stone is said to be oriented towards the Harlequin Crown and give you +4 ranks for each of your abilities. Unlike the crown, this buff only lasts for you briefly when the Seneschal attacks enemies. Nothing was revealed about Genesis
in the interview, however.
System Game Designer Sean White goes a bit further in the interview with PCGamer, describing the power that you or your Seneschal gain through these stones as it will either amplify your own power or that of the Seneschal by – let’s say quite a bit. A lot. A whole lot.
The described power matches statements made by General Manager Rod Fergusson in an interview with Electronic Playground Network, where he talked about not wanting to nerf less because the seasonal model allows OP builds to be used for a fixed period. The seasons are perfect for experimenting.
