With Season 11, Blizzard has introduced a new crafting system in Diablo 4: Sanctification. This final step can turn an already good item into an absolute god roll. One player has achieved exactly this and now likely has the strongest item in the game in their inventory.
What item is that?
- The Harlequin Crown, or Shako, is considered the strongest item in the game. The mythical headgear can be worn by all classes and is already known from Diablo 2.
- Its strength lies in its passive mythical effect, which grants +4 ranks to ALL skills and provides 20% damage reduction.
- For many of the best builds in the game, the Shako is a must-have item. Now it might be upgraded to “best” item status.
This is how the super item was created: On Reddit, a user shows their Harlequin Crown with the double effect, so +8 ranks and +40% damage reduction. However, this is not a bug, but a result of the new crafting system.
Sanctification can give an item additional effects and thus create a “god roll.” Among the possible effects are mythical properties, like those of Shako.
The chance to receive a Harlequin Crown is already extremely low – although a trick currently makes it very easy to obtain mythics. Doubling the effect is nearly impossible, but it is achievable nonetheless. According to users, this is also not a bug and is not faulty: the effects stack as intended.
“Builds will soon list this as a requirement”
In the comments, there are immediate remarks that one does not feel happy for the creator. They should shove the item elsewhere – clearly a pointed and non-serious exaggeration, but a certain envy definitely seems to be present.
Other users are more cynical and fear: If such items are possible, they will soon be necessary in builds: “I know you are just joking, but that sounds true and I hate that in build guides.”
Many builds require certain items to function at all. Items like the double Shako are virtually impossible to find, making them an implausible requirement for most players.
The creator themselves states that they do not actually need the crown. They play a Paladin spear build and a Shako does not feel “incredible” to them. Others point out that they now have no choice: the RNG gods have decided that they must play a build centered around the super item.
Sanctification itself is a new mechanic that has not yet quite caught on with many players. It can lead to absurdly strong items, as can be seen here. However, some overlook that this step must absolutely be the last in the process: Players complain that the new feature in Diablo 4 destroys their items – but they just do not understand how it works
