Diablo 4 can currently be played in Early Access, but only the base game. Season 1 has not yet started, and many are wondering where it is. We show you everything about the launch and what you can expect.
When does Season 1 start? Diablo 4 has not yet set a specific start date for Season 1. Despite this, the developers have discussed the topic of Seasons and the Battle Pass in an older Blizzard stream. This also included the start of Season 1.
This is scheduled to take place in mid to late July 2023.
Why does Season 1 start so late? Diablo 4 has two release dates:
- The Early Access for pre-order customers of the digital Deluxe and Ultimate Edition
- The regular release for purchasers of the Standard Edition
Players in Early Access would thus have a 4-day head start over players who did not spend as much money. Blizzard wants everyone to start with the same chances in the Ladder.

What content will there be? Seasons will bring, in addition to a Battle Pass, new quests, a theme, as well as new monsters and items.
Players can then start afresh with a seasonal hero, loot, and level up, thus trying out new builds. There will also be a Ladder where players compete for their position in the ranking.
Blizzard is taking a new approach, as while Diablo 3 only worked with its Seasons, Diablo 4 will also have Battle Passes, which notably will not include Pay2Win.
You will only receive a cosmetic advantage, as these Battle Passes will predominantly feature skins for your heroes, weapons, and mounts.
How long does a Season last? A Season in Diablo 4 will last up to 3 months.
