The last test before the release of Diablo 4 should really push the Blizzard servers to their limits. After the open beta, there were already concerns: This is going to be a queue fest. Now players are surprised that the opposite is the case. The server slam is running smoothly, and even the nerfs are widely accepted.
This is the current test:
- From May 12-14, the server slam in Diablo 4 is running. With this test, Blizzard wanted to know one last time how many capacities they need for the release on June 6.
- Anyone interested can play here up to level 20 and for the last time snag the 4 exclusive rewards.
- The start on Friday went great, and even afterward, there are hardly any problems. The fans are happy.
So well is the server slam going: We accompanied the start in the live ticker for the server slam. At 21:00 on June 12, it started, and players could log in. And really: no queues, no errors.
Looking at the hours-long queues and various errors during the open beta, this has caused a lot of surprise. Only a few people have struggled with disconnects or lag.
Within a few hours, the first players reached the maximum level 20, are now stocking up on legendaries or waiting for the spawn of Ashava. The last test is already going pretty well. And this is not only due to the surprisingly good performance.

“Loot feels so much better”
There is a lot of praise on Reddit for the performance of the servers. Aside from minor issues, which the test was actually intended for, there is really nothing to complain about.
One of the most important changes compared to the beta is that the drop rate of the legendaries has been significantly reduced (via Reddit). In the open beta, there were multiples of legendary items for testing, now the drop rate is as low as it was at release in June.
Accordingly, players progress more slowly but are still happy about it:
It was much more challenging than the last betas, and every fight takes longer. Elites are a greater challenge, dungeon bosses absolutely kick my ass. I died 3 times before I defeated the boss in the “Blood Howl” dungeon.

There is also praise from the readers on MeinMMO. User Tronic48 writes: I was done with the story and a few side quests in about 5 hours, and immediately at level 20. I didn’t actually want to uncover the entire map for the third time, […] but now I’ve done it again. It just doesn’t let you go.
We also noticed while playing that the difficulty has been significantly increased. At the moment, it’s hard to say whether this is due to the game itself or because almost all classes are being heavily nerfed.
Opinions are currently quite divided on this. Especially fans of the necromancer are complaining about the loss of their favorite class:
