Diablo 4: Preload is now available on PC, PS5, Xbox – Everything about the download

On May 31, 2023, the preload for Diablo 4 started. From now on, you can begin the download.

What’s new about the preload? The Blizzard team has now officially revealed the date and time for the start of the preload for Diablo 4. The early download begins a few days before the release of the game, so you have enough time to load the data onto your PC or console. This way, you are well prepared for the release.

When does the preload for Diablo 4 start?

This is when it starts: In a blog post from Blizzard, the developers mention a preload start on May 30 at 4 PM PDT. This corresponds to Wednesday, May 31, at 1:00 AM German time.

There apparently is no distinction between early access on June 2 and regular access on June 6. In both cases, you can start the early download from Wednesday.

How do I start the preload? Blizzard has provided a brief explanation on how to download the game client on your respective platform:

• PC (Battle.net): Start the client and look for Diablo 4 in the game list at the top or under All games. Select Diablo IV from the dropdown menu on the page and click the Install button.
• Xbox: Search in the Xbox Store for Diablo IV and select Download.
• PlayStation: Search in the PS Store for Diablo IV and select Download.

How big is the preload? In the official system requirements for Diablo 4, Blizzard mentions 90 GB of required storage space on the PC. The last beta build of Diablo 4 was about 85 GB on PC and around 76 GB on the Xbox and PS5 consoles.

You should also expect at least these sizes for the release. However, the final sizes are still unknown.
