Since its release, Diablo 4 has received a lot of criticism, but now it seems to be exciting many players. Some are even so captivated that they are giving up other things for it.
This is the current state of Diablo 4: With Season 4, Diablo 4 has been fundamentally overhauled. There are new crafting systems and the Helltides have been revised and are already available at World Tier 1. Additionally, Patch 1.4.2 surprisingly introduced loot pets that collect materials and gold for you.
The endgame is finally better; players feel it has a good balance and is fun. Overall, players seem to be satisfied with Diablo 4 at the moment. Many say: This is how Diablo 4 should have been since its release.
The community is also discussing the current state of Diablo 4 on Reddit, which is apparently much better in Season 4 than some expected. They joke about what things they are putting off or cancelling – and what it’s related to.

Players currently can’t get enough of Diablo 4
So captivated are some players: On Reddit, the user “Zyphica” asked the community on June 12 if anyone else is “addicted” to Diablo 4. He didn’t just mean that they like the game – but that they constantly think about when they can play next, even when they are not currently playing.
In the comments, users discuss the topic. “Guilty_Account9590” writes: “I was doing fine until I saw this post. Now I have to go play again!” The user “Win_0r_Die” comments that he has played every season. But currently, he is so taken with it, “like I haven’t been in a while.”
And “iambara” adds: “Same! Last night, I wanted to play a small survival game with friends. And I kept thinking about Diablo 4 the whole time.” The user “Hopeful_Low_8556” notes: “Destiny just released its best expansion yet and I still want to play Diablo.”
“Xiimbox” writes in another thread on Reddit that he thought Season 4 would capture him for two weeks. A month later, he is “more and more crazy about it every day that goes by.” And “Weissekaiser” jokingly replies that he considered cancelling his wedding because he still hasn’t gotten his desired weapons.
Why does Season 4 captivate longer? Some users note that they simply create and level many more characters in this season than in previous seasons, giving them more to do:
- Leveling goes much faster
- Players try out different builds and classes
- The crafting, especially the masterworking (completion), keeps players engaged
- Players switch between different activities in the endgame to get items and materials
On Reddit, “TheSpanxxx” notes in a comment: “I reached level 100 with my 4th [character] yesterday. This is how a season should feel.” And “AsuraTheFlame” adds: “In this season, I’ve created 4 characters. [Usually] I make a sorceress and maybe a barbarian before I stop until the next season.”
The user “jeaxz74” agrees: “Normally, I stop after leveling one character to World Tier 4 and upgrading it. Now I have two level 100s and am still running the pit, helltides, and nightmare dungeons. I’m enjoying this season a lot lately.”
And “Lazerdude” praises that things go faster in Season 4: “I can actually reach 100 in a short time, rush through high nightmare dungeons for the glyphs, and work on the endgame build in a few days, not weeks or months.” The bigger problem for players seems to be character and stash space now.
Blizzard has been working on improving Diablo 4 within its first year and has listened to the community in many cases. The ARPG is now receiving a lot of praise. The developers have already fulfilled several wishes, and the expansion sounds promising.
