In Diablo 4, a large part of the game revolves around collecting loot and finding rare equipment. Now, a player on Reddit has discovered a broken chest that delivers countless loot – until your game crashes because of it.
What kind of chest is it? The Diablo 4 player “High-With-You” posted a video in the Diablo 4 subreddit where he stands in front of a chest with countless amounts of loot at his feet.
The chest simply wouldn’t empty according to the user’s description, and every time High-With-You opened the chest, he received numerous treasures again.
There was no need to leave the area or wait for some time. The Reddit user could just stand there and endlessly press the button to open the chest. In a comment, he writes: “It feels wrong, but I couldn’t stop.”
When High-With-You discovered the chest, he was in the process of completing the quest “A Soaked Pact” in the Scosglen region when he unexpectedly found the generous chest north of the quest target. The player then took the time to open the chest countless times with a single mouse click, filling his inventory with various loot.
At some point, the Reddit user’s game crashed, he writes in the comments. Probably too much loot was laying on the ground being displayed on the screen. By that time, however, he had successfully filled his inventory.
Can you also have an infinite chest? In the comments, High-With-You reveals that he does not know how the infinite chest came to be. It is clearly a game bug that the Reddit user cannot reproduce on purpose.
However, there are other players in the comment section of the post who also report finding an infinite chest in Diablo 4. That was, however, still in beta, which is why they are surprised that the bug can still occur (via Reddit).
Additionally, a user adds that it does not depend on a specific chest or location. The bug could randomly occur with any object that gives you loot – but is extremely rare.
Can you be punished for opening an infinite chest? Possibly yes, since an infinite chest is a game bug. You would be consciously exploiting it if you opened the chest over and over again. Some players on Reddit believe that Blizzard could take action against players who exploit the bug.
