In Diablo 4, it is essential to improve items to fit the build. A player is now warning about a crafting error that he discovered after 260 hours of gameplay.
To have good equipment in Diablo 4, one often has to tinker with the items they find. For example, you can exchange aspects of items. You should keep in mind that while you can extract aspects, you can only use them in a new item once.
Another way to customize items for the build is by “rolling” affixes. With the Occultist, you can enchant items and thereby replace affixes with others. However, there are differences – and a player only noticed them after he had wasted many materials.
First “roll”, then imprint aspect
What error is he warning about? On Reddit, the user “bewareofbananapeel” wrote on February 25 that he has “rolled his items so wrong.” He hopes that his post can help other players. After 260 hours in Diablo 4, he found that there is an important difference when enchanting (“rolling”) items.
While enchanting, he wasted materials because he “re-rolled numerous orange items”, he writes in the comment. Apparently, he always imprinted an aspect first before enchanting the items to fit his build. However, imprinting the aspect changes the rarity of the item and turns it into an orange Legendary.
Why did he waste valuable materials? In his post, the user notes that it is “cheaper” to roll yellow items. However, if you imprint an aspect into the yellow item, it becomes a rarer item. This increases the materials needed for enchanting.
In our example, you can see the difference in material costs. No devil roses are needed for enchanting a yellow item, but they are required for enchanting the Legendary:
What do other players say about it? In the comments, several users thank him for the tip, as they didn’t know either. Someone writes: “Wait, you can upgrade from yellow to orange???”
A user gives the tip in the comment to improve the items at the blacksmith only after rolling because a new affix brought by rolling can also be improved.
A user notes that he should not feel bad. He himself only discovered two weeks after the start of Season 2 that you can imprint a new aspect if an item already has one. Someone replies: “Hey, I just learned that last week.”
