Gems are an important resource in Diablo 4 to further enhance equipment. However, when all slots are filled, the gems only waste unnecessary space and block potential legendary loot slots. A player is now complaining that his inventory is completely cluttered with gems and is asking for advice.
What is his problem? The player NeonMagic shows his chest on the Reddit forum and asks other users what the hell he is supposed to do with the gems. In his chest, there are gems of all kinds in varying strengths that he has found in treasure chests or received from monsters.
What are the gems used for? The gems enhance the character depending on where they are used, in different areas. In weapons, they deal more damage, in armor they provide more defense, and in jewelry, they offer more resistance.
They can be upgraded at the jeweler and fused into stronger versions. The most valuable example is the Royal Gem.
Once used, they provide a certain bonus; in case of doubt, the gems can be removed and another type can be used. However, especially in the endgame, there are more gems than available slots in the equipment, so the stock can fill up quickly.

What do other users advise? The players mainly have one piece of advice: The affected player should ideally leave the gems on the ground. Since he has enough specimens of each kind, it makes no sense to collect even more gems.
An alternative to create as much space in the inventory as possible is to embed gems into inventory slots instead of throwing them away. When disassembling items, you get the jewels back for free and can use them again.
There are still some other creative ideas, some of which are probably not meant to be taken seriously, but we don’t want to withhold from you:
- Jason-Griffin: “Go to World Level 1. Start in the town closest to the back of the PvP zone. Begin dropping them one by one in the style of Hansel and Gretel as you head to the PvP zone. Drop them at the beginning of the PvP zone and place a big prize at the end. Set a blood mark and wait for someone to pick up their prize. Kill them.”
- vince0000: “Sell them for about 36 gold, now that you’ve picked them up – but don’t do that again.”
- Panthergast: “Hang them on a Christmas tree.”
- No_Food_208: “Make a necklace for Mother’s Day.”
Even when sold, the gems bring in almost no money. It would only be worthwhile to collect Royal Gems.
Many players wish for a gem bag to still keep the excess gems. So far, Blizzard has not presented any plans to include such a bag. Instead, there will be a material tab in Season 2 where the gems will be listed.
