At the end of Diablo 4, a particularly tough “final boss” awaits all who dare to face him. Now the first player has succeeded in defeating this boss – with a hardcore character. The master here is actually known for Path of Exile.
What kind of boss is this?
- When you reach World Tier 4, a new dungeon appears, where the current last and hardest boss of Diablo 4 awaits.
- This “Pinnacle Boss” is the final boss, which the developers have previously described.
- The boss is designed for level 100 and is supposed to test your skills and expertise with mechanics and class.

Who is the player? The player is known by the name Ben_ on Twitch and primarily shows gameplay of Path of Exile there, occasionally also World of Warcraft. Since the release, he has been playing and streaming Diablo 4 for about 2,800 viewers on average (via sullygnome).
Now Ben_ has been the first player worldwide to take down the notorious “Pinnacle Boss” in Diablo 4 – or at least the first to show it publicly. And that in hardcore mode. This means: if he had died, his character would have been gone forever. All that playtime wasted.

The “Pinnacle Boss” even overwhelms the greatest experts of Diablo 4
How did Ben_ achieve the kill? The expert relied on one of the currently strongest builds: the Whirlwind Barbarian. This build is currently in the tier list with the best builds in Diablo 4 categorized as S-tier.
The build is based on the Barbarian spinning around enemies in his iconic whirlwind for as long as possible and simply chopping them down. In doing so, he makes them vulnerable, deals more damage, and causes them to bleed. With the damage, he even heals himself. Ben_ shows the exact build on Twitch.
Whirlwind Barbarians have been around for ages in Diablo, and this build is one of the most well-known in the series.
However, there were some issues with the build in Diablo 4. Two of the important items for the build were deactivated to be reworked because they did not function correctly, as the community manager says. Such high damage was not intended.

What makes the boss so difficult? The “Pinnacle Boss” has a ton of mechanics that could also appear in an MMORPG boss fight for 20 players. He covers the entire area with attacks, summons minions, and disappears in some phases repeatedly.
The damage is so high that, depending on your build, you may just be taken out with one hit. Many experts fail against this boss and decide even to flee after 24 minutes rather than risk their characters.
Currently, the boss is considered the greatest challenge in the game and a benchmark for the best players. The fight has even claimed several lives, including one particularly tragic incident involving the well-known streamer Wudijo, who made a rather silly mistake:
