With Season 1 also came the first Battle Pass for Diablo 4. This comes in 2 variants: free and paid. However, those who buy it receive less back than they invest. And in Season 3 it will get even worse, fans calculate.
What about the Battle Pass?
- The Battle Pass is linked to the seasons of Diablo 4. You need a seasonal character to level it up.
- Every player receives a free Battle Pass with some cosmetic items and “Ash” for buffs. Those who pay 1,000 Platinum (around €10) receive the Premium Pass with more cosmetics.
- However, here is the crux: unlike in Fortnite, in the Premium Pass you do not receive enough Platinum to buy the next Battle Pass again, but only 666. This number looks like a meme, but it greatly annoys players.
This is what players say: Even beforehand, Blizzard shared this information, and it was received mixed in the community. While most were disappointed or outraged, the best reactions were neutral, as players would not buy the pass anyway.
However, a user on Reddit has caused a stir with a new calculation. He calculates that the 666 Platinum is not just a reference to the number of the devil, but is intentionally just too little. He calculates:
- For 2 Battle Passes, you pay 1,000 Platinum each and get back 666. This results in 1,332 Platinum after 2 Battle Passes.
- You could use this to buy the third one and would have 332 Platinum left.
- If you also complete the third Battle Pass, you would end up with 332 + 666 = 998 Platinum, exactly 2 too few to buy a fourth.
The player accuses Blizzard of calculation and criticizes that such things are not addressed in the Campfire Chats. With over 8,700 upvotes and 1,200 comments in just a few hours, the thread is one of the largest in the subreddit.
The gameplay of Season 1 has already faced criticism:

The reactions of other users are surprisingly cool. Many seem not to be really concerned at all. They say: that’s exactly why one simply does not buy a Battle Pass, then it’s not a problem at all.
Others say they do not see the point of the system at all. Cosmetics are unimportant to them, even more so in an action RPG, where one sees them too little and is usually playing alone anyway.
Even druids are involved, saying that it does not matter to them anyway. Who constantly runs around as a bear or wolf does not see their armor. No reason to spend money on fancy clothes.
In some comments, there is also plain cynicism and sarcasm. Users predict cylinders for bears, compare the lady in the shop to the ultimate evil, and throw out other remarks. However, hardly anyone is happy with the system in this form.
